Support From the Inside Out
Bad News - 65% of prison inmates, and 80% of jail inmates, will return to custody within three years of their release - unless something changes. For most people, our incarceration system is a revolving door.
Good News - you can break the chains that keep you a slave, and become one of the freest people on the planet! With God's help, you can get off the merry-go-round, stop settling for less, and begin to live the live you were born for! Christian Formation Ministries offers a faith-based approach to help people help themselves to get free and stay free. We also offer help to the immediate family members of the person in trouble. Community ChaplainsMinistry to people within the criminal justice system is CFM’s primary reason for being. Our Community Chaplaincy Program ordains and supervises the activities of Ministers of the Gospel, who minister primarily to incarcerated and recently-released inmates and their families, many of whom also have problems with substance abuse and addiction. Our Community Chaplains enjoy all the responsibilities and privileges of the clergy, receive specialized training, and have a personal calling from God to work with hurting people in non-church venues and situations.
Our Community Chaplains are major part of the daily ministry within Christian Formation Ministries. They can be found serving within the Local Jail and Correctional facilities, Classroom and Program Leaders, as well as one-on-one mentoring for individuals and families. For more information about our in house Community Chaplaincy contact Rev. Richard Johnson at richard@christian-formation.org. If you you like get in contact with a community chaplain for a visitation, contact us at 1-(812)-945-0886 or email at info@christian-formation.org. Successful Re-Entry (SURE) ProgramSURE is a faith and evidence-based recovery and re-entry program for adults from Floyd and Clark counties in Southern Indiana, who are incarcerated in, or recently-released from jail or prison; people ready to do whatever it takes to break the cycle of addiction, crime, and incarceration - permanently.
65% of prison inmates, and 80% of jail inmates, re-offend and return to custody within three years of their release. 80% of participants who complete our program stay out of trouble with the law. SURE Program mentors provide support, encouragement, and accountability during the first critical phases of transition from incarceration to free society. After completing the program, participants may also become mentors. SURE is more than a program; it is a close-knit community of individuals whose lives have been changed for the long-term. For more information about Successful Re-Entry contact Rev. Richard Johnson at richard@christian-formation.org. My ClubMy Club is a faith-based program designed for the specific needs of children of incarcerated parents and the recently released. Our vision is to create support and encouragement through activities surrounding character development, spiritual awareness, practical live skills, and support a healthy vision for the rest of the young person’s life. My Club members spend every meeting learning new things, surrounded by other young people going through the same challenges.
My Club stands out as a unique program for working with the whole family unit. With assistance from the SURE program, parents and guardians get the support they need while children in My Club learn similar lessons in a child base environment. My Club lives up to its name as we encourage members to make the program their own. My Club members help pick out lesson topics, activities, field trips, and special guests they wish to invite from our Community Partners program. My Club Member’s work with their mentors to create an environment unique to each club making it a fun and safe place. For more information contact Suzanna at suzanna@christian-formation.org |
